I read an article recently some of which I would like to share with you. The article stated, “In 1888 a noted chess master named Paul Morphy attended a dinner party in Richmond, Virginia. During the dinner his attention was drawn to a painting on the wall. The scene portrayed a young man locked in an intense chess match with the devil.  The devil’s next move would surely claim victory - entitling him to the young man’s soul.  The devil wore a triumphant expression. After dinner the chess champion walked over to the painting, studying the board and the pieces portrayed on it. Suddenly he turned to his host and said, “I can take the young man’s game and win!” “That’s not possible!” his host replied. “Not even you can retrieve that game, it’s too far gone for you to win. “The chess champion answered, “Yes, I think I can. Suppose we place the men and give it a try.” To the surprise of everyone Morphy bested the smug opponent in the painting.  Victory was snatched from the devil and the young man was saved.” The young man in the painting is the USA. We are believers in Christ and biblical principles for life in our country are in a battle with the devil and secular humanism for the very soul of this nation. It appears everything Christians value as sacred, the sanctity of life for all ages, the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman, the sacred right to display Christian images in public places and etc. will soon be lost to the craftiness of the devil. Our nation’s basic constitutional right of “Freedom of Religion” is very rapidly becoming “Freedom from Religion.” In talking with many conservative Christians there is a general consensus that the battle is almost over. It appears all hope that our country would always remain a “Christian Nation” with Christian values and standard of righteousness is about lost. Even our President (who currently is not affiliated with any Christian denomination or religious persuasion) is boasting that the USA is no longer a Christian nation. For those of us who love America as it was intended to be by our forefathers, it is heartbreaking to watch our nation make a wrong turn after wrong turn; thereby walking out from beneath the umbrella of the protective shield of Almighty God. Although the times in which we live may look discouraging to many, there’s still a voice of faith in the victorious Christ down deep inside of me saying, “the devil hasn’t won yet”!” “God has not lost or abandoned America!” God through the person of Jesus Christ is still in the game. He knows how to win and, gets the last move.” “It’s not over until “GOD” says it’s over!” Jesus, the victorious champion of our salvation is still in control and as I read the back of the book (The Bible) the devil looses and WE WIN! Until that day there is a great need for all Bible believing Christians to pray concerning God’s last move for America, because I feel it’s going to be something “BIG”. God is not going to lose this sacred country to the devil. He’s going to turn it around with one last move and when H e does, tears of sorrow will flow like rivers and repentance will come. Until that day, Christians are called to pray for our nation. We are called to stand up and boldly speak out (while we still have that liberty) for Christ and sacred Christian principles and values until Christ returns for His church.
