It was 1932 and a few people in the northeast section of Galesburg felt led to begin Bible classes for children. Out
of that group, evolved a new congregation called First Church of God. They located at the corner of Farnham and Knox Streets
in the city's south side. In 1977 the congregation held their first service in a brand new sanctuary located at
1080 Harrison St., just a few blocks away from its origin. Ten years ago a large addition was built to that building, which
includes a gymnasium, classrooms, and office complex.
Even though we boast a wonderful seventy-five years, we have only just begun and now find ourselves getting back to our
roots of seventy-five years ago. We again are making giant efforts to reach the children in the northeast sector of Galesburg
through the "Caraway Street" puppet ministry each Sunday morning and Awana for children on Wednesday nights.
We look forward to serving the Lord and the greater Galesburg community for many more years to come. I believe the best
is yet to come!
